webring guidelines
- i do not list hateful bigots. there is zero tolerance for racism, zionism, ableism, queerphobia, exclusionism of ANY kind and any other hateful ideologies. continued further down*
- you must identify with the label xenic in some way. this is a given. it does not matter in what way, you can scroll through the members list and see the variety of labels folks have chosen to display on their listing. it would also be perferred if you had something queer-related on your site like Literally anything pronouns a flag whatever but i won't hard require this. you might have your reasons
- good-faith, non-harmful identities only. no dangerous paraphilias or harmful transids/labels basically. i assume good faith always, so if you say you're autigender or something i will assume you're autistic.
- personal, hand-coded sites only. no carrds rentry strawpage slop sludge. Respectfully. site does not have to be hosted on neocities or be entirely handmade, templates are allowed
- widget needs to go somewhere on your site, preferably somewhere easily accessible. this keeps the spirit of the webring alive because you're supposed to be able to go aaall around them like a ring!
- have common sense, this ring is for xenics and nothing more. any given site's opinions do not reflect anyone else in the webring, myself included. bigots will still never be listed. Also sort of continued further down*
- 18+ sites are welcome to apply, but the content cannot be on your landing page and needs to have an appropriate content warning. just because people using the ring won't be browsing the listing and might not know if there's no warning, as the webring is not 18+.
- sites must have some substance to them. this will be decided on a case-by-case basis but as long as your website isn't exclusively a landing or lacking homepage then you're probably fine. sites already in the ring who are reworking their pages are fine as long as the webring widget is still accessible and useable
- i have a right to decline any applicant for any reason. self explanatory
*in case of some particularly 'online' opinions and arguments: this webring prioritizes kindness and tolerance always, particularly in regard to others' identities. have any opinions you want on unorthodox identities like alterhumanity and plurality but i'm not going to host anyone who's just legitimately hateful toward microlabels and identities adjacent to LIOMOGAI like the ones i just listed. many of the individuals listed here are apart of those groups (myself included) and this will remain a safe place for their site to live. all that to say as long as you're not saying abhorrent awful shit about these people, then i couldn't care less about what you think about them.
ok i read yay let me in
alright Cool! it's important to note that xotn operates on an every-other-month open-closed schedule. this means that if applications are open one month, they will be closed the next (and vice versa). this is to give the frail old ringmaster (me) a break. application status will always be listed on the site. speaking of which:
applications are currently closed for the month of september and will be open in october
i was on here where did i go :(
sites that don't have the widget will be removed whenever i eventually get around to it because it defeats the purpose of the webring. it's all connected. this is also why i reccomend having the widget in an accessible place like the landing page, the home page or a dedicated webrings page because if i can't find it after looking a moderate amount then i will assume it's not on there. if i can't get all the way around the listing then i will remove the conflicting site. that or you started spewing hate
feel free to reapply, it's very likely it's due to the former
